The Garage is Nearly done!!
It's been 18 months, more money than we ever expected, but it's very nearly finished. We don't have many 'before' pictures of the inside. We didn't figure that it would make a big difference. We had no idea.
We started by laying plywood above the joists and adding a drop down ladder to create storage. Then came wiring: Cat5, 220V, outlets, lights, alarm system. The stereo has in wall speakers and the garage is better wired than most houses! We then insulated the walls and the ceiling and put up drywall and learned to mud! After that we primed, painted and hung lights.
The garage when we bought the house. No interior shots but it was only stick framed, there was lumber stored in between the supports, only one light fixture, only a few outlets, the doors were rotting, the back door and window were in less than great shape.
Here are the garage doors being installed - you can see the sheetrock still un-mudded (and some still un-hung)
The one thing we DIDN'T attempt ourselves....we ordered the doors, had them delivered and installed.
The new doors (and a few of the bikes....)
AFTER!! We still have to find shelving/storage, I've got plans for a few murals, we need a fridge and a motorcycle lift (maybe not in that order). But it's just about done - and there's light, TV, stereo, electricity - a REAL garage!
